COVER INFORMATION Station: ONSALA85 (Code On ) Experiment: A study of very compact steep spectrum objects --- part II Exp. Code: em042b Schedule Version: 1.00 Processed by SCHED version: Release of 30 Jan. 2001 PI: Andrzej Marecki Address: Torun Centre for Astronomy N. Copernicus Univ. Torun Poland Phone: +48 56 611 30 32 EMAIL: amr@astro.uni.torun.pl Fax: +48 56 611 30 09 Phone during observation: +48 56 611 30 20 Observing mode: continuum Notes: A part-II survey of VCSS started in 1998 with EM028 COVER LETTER: Using the VLA FIRST catalogue we selected a new sample of candidates for weak CSS sources and surveyed them with MERLIN at C-band. One third (i.e. 20) of our objects appeared to be ideal targets for a VLBI follow-up. Indeed, the observations of 8 out of those 20 objects performed with the EVN at 6 cm (expt. EM028) and with the VLBA at 18 cm (expt. BM094) - both performed in 1998 - made it clear that these were very interesting objects. To make our VLBI survey complete we are observing the remaining 12 sources of that group now. If you see any problems with this schedule let me know as soon as possible. Good observing! Andrzej Marecki, TRAO P.S. I'm terribly sorry for such a late submission of this schedule. A.M. SCHED provides warnings at individual scans for distances less than 10 degrees. The distance from the Sun to each source in this schedule is: Source Sun distance (deg) 0850+342 156.9 0853+291 161.4 1044+297 158.3 1343+386 121.3 1401+353 118.0 1441+409 110.1 1601+382 94.4 1619+378 90.9 1632+391 88.9 1656+391 84.5 1709+303 78.6 1717+315 77.5 3C273B 137.2 Barry Clark estimates from predictions by Ketan Desai of IPM scattering sizes that the Sun will cause amplitude reductions on the longest VLBA baselines at a solar distance of 60deg F^(-0.6) where F is in GHz.
