COVER LETTER:

This is the 5cm NME-FTP experiment for Session 2 2008

The experiment is scheduled at 256Mbps, but since this session
has the first use of a non-standard, higher frequency in the GB064
experiments, the first part of the NME follows the setup of GB064.

Hence from the first 2 hours, the setup is two 16MHz BBCs (lower sideband)
one polarization each. The BBCs are centered at 6116.1 MHz.

For the remaining time, an NME "standard" excited OH setup is observed
at 256Mb/s (eight 4 MHz BBCs, each upper and low sideband).

Due to the different frequency, a separate FREQ.DAT file was used
(n08m2freq.dat). PLEASE NOTE that this is NOT the same as gb064freq.dat.

In order to minimize complications with the MarkIV stations' patching,
I have altered the LOs of Jb2, On, Wb and Hh, so that both setups go
to LOW patching.

Please check again if the suggested LO values are OK with your stations.

This is NOT the case in GB064. There the BBCs come at HIGH patching in
Jb2, On, Wb and Hh, while all other experiment (N08M2, EV017, GS029)
use low patching (Ef, Mc and the VLBA stations are unaffected).

Since the GB064 PI is away until May 22, I guess that station friends
will have to do the necessary LO changes themselves.

There are 4 FTP scans each 4 sec long, two for each frequency setup.

Best wishes and good luck with the session

The solar corona can cause unstable phases for sources too close to the Sun.
SCHED provides warnings at individual scans for distances less than 10 degrees.
The distance from the Sun to each source in this schedule is:
    Source Sun distance (deg)
   DA193 17.5
   J0916+3854 50.4

   1222+037 101.4
   3C273B 103.0

Barry Clark estimates from predictions by Ketan Desai of IPM scattering sizes
that the Sun will cause amplitude reductions on the longest VLBA baselines
at a solar distance of 60deg F^(-0.6) where F is in GHz.
For common VLBI bands, this is:
       327 MHz 117. deg
       610 MHz 81. deg
       1.6 GHz 45. deg
