COVER LETTER:

This is the schedule for the 18cm NME on 05 March 2011
involving 12 antennas: Eb Wb Jb1 On Mc Tr Sv Zc Bd Ur Sh Hh

In this session the main L-band ftp test is separate from the NME (F12L1),
but in addition we schedule a couple of the ftp-tests here, just in case
some additional checking is needed.

The NME uses a standard setup and consists of long integrations
on strong sources and a phase-referencing part,

0657+172 is a Jy-class source from VLBA RRFID database
(1.23 Jy in S-band as of Oct 2009). It is definitely well resolved,
so it could be weak for the long baselines.

DA193 and 4C39.25 are standard fringe-finders.

The phase-referencing part uses J0954+2639, a 100 mJy-class calibrator
as a target and J0956+2515 as a phase-referencing source.
J0956+2515 was successfully used as an ftp-fringe finder
in N11C2. Its flux based on the pipelined data was ~0.45 Jy
for June 2011. It is almost point-like.

Two ftp tests are scheduled:
~16:14 UT (scan 2, 4 sec, 0657+172)
~17:18 UT (scan 8, 4 sec, DA193)

Please make sure that the autoftp is set up correctly.

Good luck with the session!

Yurii

The solar corona can cause unstable phases for sources too close to the Sun.
SCHED provides warnings at individual scans for distances less than 10 degrees.
The distance from the Sun to each source in this schedule is:
    Source Sun distance (deg)
   DA193 103.2
   0657+172 118.9

   J0954+2639 153.0
   J0956+2515 154.4

Barry Clark estimates from predictions by Ketan Desai of IPM scattering sizes
that the Sun will cause amplitude reductions on the longest VLBA baselines
at a solar distance of 60deg F^(-0.6) where F is in GHz.
For common VLBI bands, this is:
       327 MHz 117. deg
       610 MHz 81. deg
       1.6 GHz 45. deg
       2.3 GHz 36. deg
       5.0 GHz 23. deg
       8.4 GHz 17. deg
      15.0 GHz 12. deg
      22.0 GHz 9. deg
